
DigyCorp appoints Professor Mark Girolami as Non‑Executive Director

Mark brings deep expertise in machine learning and artificial intelligence, data-centric engineering, and world-leading research strategy.
A global authority in AI and data science
Mark Girolami isone of the most respected experts in machine learning, statistics, anddata-centric engineering. Holding the Sir Kirby Laing Chair of Civil Engineering at Cambridge since 2019 and serving as Chief Scientist at the Alan Turing Institute since October 2021, he has spearheaded breakthrough research in machine learning, AI and data science. A Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society of Edinburgh,Mark also received the prestigious Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award in 2012, and the Guy Medal in Silver from the Royal Statistical Society in 2023.
Prior to Cambridge, he was Chair of Statistics at Imperial College and earlier spent a decade as a Chartered Engineer at IBM—giving him a rare blend of deep academic and industry insight.

In his role on DigyCorp’s board, Mark will contribute visionary leadership and governance on machine learning & AI integration and help steer the company’s digital solutions to pioneer sustainable initiatives. His leadership in data-centric methodologies—such as digital twins, infrastructure health monitoring, and predictive modelling—aligns with DigyCorp’s mission to deliver responsible and impactful tech solutions.

Mark A. Girolami is Sir Kirby Laing Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Cambridge, aFellow of Christ’s College Cambridge, and Chief Scientist at the Alan Turing Institute. He earned an honorary doctorate from the University of Glasgow in 2025, and the University of the West of Scotland in 2024 for his achievements in engineering and computing. He holds credentials at Imperial College and IBM and is Editor‑in‑Chief of Data‑Centric Engineering.
